Original Item: Only One Available. Known by collectors as "ice cream cone" binoculars (due to the shape), these are classic 7x56 German military issue in WWII. Made by Hensoldt & Sohne Werke A-G in Wetzlar, Germany, this beautiful set of 7x56 binoculars is in the more desirable higher power and finished in classic black color.

This pair is marked with maker HENSOLDT-WETZLAR on the eyepiece hinge, indicating that these were produced prior to 1941, when the company started using 3 letter code bmj. The serial number 21577 is quite low, as by 1943 the company was well into 6 digit numbers. On the opposing side of the hinge is the series marking NACHT-DIALYT and the power is also marked with the numbers 7x56. There are focus diopter adjustments on both sides, and they move smoothly.

There is some oxidation on the aluminum fittings where the finish has lifted, but overall these binoculars are in great functional condition. The optics are in excellent condition and mostly clear. Original leather neck strap is also included, and is quite supple, with minimal wear.

Also included is a fine condition black leather case with a wood-lined top, where a set of two sun shield filters are stored. This is one of the very few examples we have seen that still has the filters included, as they are almost always lost. The spring-loaded catch mechanism is maker marked and dated rrn 4? an unknown maker code seen on many similar clips from gas mask canisters. The shoulder strap is present, however it is somewhat delicate, with the finish cracked in many places.

The case definitely appears to be original, and has an NSDAP inspection sticker on the back. A great set of binoculars in a wartime case, ready to add to your optics collection!
